Range
The range of the SF8 transmitter is as follows:
From 6 km. to 12 km. (4 to 8 miles) for ground searches
From 12 km. to 28 km. (8 to 18 miles) for searches at heights of 3-4 metres
From 40 km. to 70 km. (25 to 44 miles) from mountaintops
Battery life
The SF8 transmitter works with a 1/3N battery with a 35-day life. The low battery detector will emit a double beep four days before the battery runs out.
Weight
The transmitter weighs 3.9 grams (0.14 ounces) when leg mounted and 4.9 grams (0.17 ounces) when tail mounted.
Other characteristics
The SF8 transmitter has a luminous LED that shows when the transmitter is on without turning on the receiver, which can be very helpful on night searches.
