History
One of the oldest breeds in the world. The Podenco Andaluz originates in Andalusia, Spain. It is a descendent of the Egyptian Podencos that came to Spain with the colonization of Gandir, now called Cadiz. The Podenco Andaluz looks a lot like Anubis, the Ancient Egyptians god of the dead. Thanks to the numerous invasions of the Iberian Peninsula, the breed has been in contact with many cultures and civilisations.

Description
The Podenco Andaluz is outstanding for its highly-developed sense of smell, its great agility and excellent stamina. These qualities, together with a real hunter’s instinct, make the Podenco Andaluz and exceptional hunting dog. One of the bravest dogs, which will stand up to all manner of vermin.

Character
Honourable and loyal. A highly intelligent dog that is easy to train. Affectionate and sociable. Always alert. Balanced, lively dog.

Use
An excellent hunting breed. This dog is used on hunts because of its great bravery when faced with dangerous animals. Its agility and strength and innate hunting instincts mean it can deal with anything from hunting rabbits in thickets to grappling with a wild boar.
