Ibiza, Spain 

History
This dog is almost unknown, although is a descendent from the “dog of the pharaohs”, and may have been taken to Ibiza by the Egyptians themselves in 3000 BC. It survived on the island due to the isolation of the location.

Description
It looks as fast and agile as it is, these characteristics being among its main advantages.

Character
Extraordinarily alert, active and intelligent.  This is a sensitive dog, which is faithful to its owner.

Use
The Podenco Ibicenco is a very intelligent breed, perfect for hunting rabbits, some of the trickiest prey a hunter can pursue. Thanks to its excellent senses of hearing and smell, this dog is as good for hunting during the day as it is at night.
It is generally used as a single hunting dog, as it is not especially good at teamwork with other males.
One of its peculiarities is that when the hunt goes specially well, it starts to find rabbits repulsive and leaves the beating area.
